"T.H.E.S.I.S.", is a song about how the educational system every person on this planet (lucky enough to have an education) is subjected to, has the same hierarchy of subjects and criteria as it did when it was first instituted during the industrial revolution.
Could circumstances have changed within the last few hundred years? ...Then shouldn't we adjust our educational system accordingly?
If you're interested, Sir Ken Robinson's beautiful TEDTalks sums it up amazingly:
A snake, a fish, a monkey, a bear, an elephant, a giraffe, an ant, a bird, and a wolf, are all told by the professor, "In order to grade you all equally, you will all be subjected to the same test - climb this tree."
We need to have a world where our passions are supported, and we are given freedom to explore where our hearts want to take us, and not where outdated criteria make us go.
lyrics
The Pyramid was built 200 years ago,
For the sole purpose of increasing work flow.
Tradition is ignorance, apathy is bliss.
This is the basis of this fucked up thesis.
Imagination over indoctrination?
Productivity over being me.
Why do we count so much on numbers,
And the arts are set to suffer?
Where the hell is the lesson,
Teaching the value of self-expression?
Success doesn't mean money,
The system is obsolete.
'Cause I got me.
I got creativity.
Fuck school,
Fuck work,
Fuck Tradition,
Fuck church,
Fuck what I'm supposed to be,
'Cause I've got creativity.
