about

FROM THE BOOKLET:

Ah, a common theme amongst our lyrics is one of anti-religion and Godlessness. We are asked on a regular basis what we have against religion, and we always have a hard time answering shortly. The amount of things wrong with religion seems infinite. A lot of people have this centristic point of view that is something along the lines of "they're not hurting anyone with their beliefs, then why care?" Well, essentially, if you saw someone living a false, self-destructive lifestyle, would you leave it be? We're sure as fuck won't We give a shit about people. We'd rather people realize that the only ``God`` that exists is man, and that our power is infinite. Nothing is greater than the limitlessness of the human mind. Right now we do have `higher powers`. It would be foolish to think we are the greatest force in the Universe just yet. We are pitted against (as well as benefitting from) the sun, human instinct, our biological make up... Hell, to some it's a being called "Mom". But nothing is static. Nothing. One day our technological advances and our own evolution will make us the greatest immediate force in the Universe. Religious teachings are an obsolete method of finding harmony within ones own self. Two-thousand years ago, that book was a reasonable method to do this. But institutionalizing these teachings as an establishment is what makes them look outward and conveniently assimilate everything into somehow contributing to their beliefs. A symbollic situation of this would be when Slut was a young teenager, he got liquored up and thought it would be funny to spraypaint "Jesus Was Magic!" in some weak, inebriated attempt to be both funny and enlightening to a bunch of dolts who worship a man who executed some cheap party tricks. A week later, the Church's billboard boasted "That's right! Jesus WAS Magic!" ...Are you fucking kidding me? Or how about when presented with dinosaur bones and fossils, they say "God put those there to test our faith." Wow. Talk about really having your bases covered. And they're not just fucking themselves -- they're fucking all of us. The reason thousands of innocent people died on September 11th, 2001 (regardless of it being an inside job or not) was because of what a few men believed in religious Jihad. The reason rape victims are ridiculed, harassed and murdered for aborting a fetus they didn't ask for, is because of what certain religious sects believe about the human soul. And that's also the reason stem cell research isn't being funded at a federal level. Religion fucks us all. And as people who give a shit about our fellow man, we can't let this happen. But keep in mind, in order to make an efficient impact and incite change with a group of people such as thins, you have to not only have your facts straight, but also exercise a precise amount of empathy for your religiously-indoctrinated subject's deficient means of understanding.
